LA Trip

We made it back from LA in one piece. Overall it was good trip, albeit very cold and windy! It was warmer on the east coast that weekend. It was still full of beautiful sights including: Newport and laguna beach (where we ran into a tv show being filmed), tour of Riverside and orange orchards, Mission inn, Santa Monica, Hollywood hills and sign, Griffith observatory, Santa Monica beach and pier, Malibu, Beverly hills, rodeo drive, Hollywood star walk, and manhattan beach. I am probably even forgetting some things. We ate pink's famous hot dogs and I had my first ever In n Out burger as well. Lots of good food. Wish we could get back in warmer weather next time and I could actually get a tan!

weekend in review

This weekend was pretty easy going once again. I am trying to avoid sickness before heading out to Los Angeles in 4 days! (and it seems everyone around me has recently been under the weather). I did happen to go catch a movie with my friend and coworker Sarah on Saturday night. We saw "Friends with Kids" at Landmark Cinema on E st. We had never been before, the theater plays more independent and unique movies (which I loved) and also served gourmet food and alcohol. Would be great for a date night. Of course, the 7pm movie was sold out (and we did not plan ahead), so we grabbed dinner and drinks while we waited to for 9pm showing. It was worth the wait. You should go see "Friends with Kids", with pretty much the whole "Bridesmaids" cast. Kristen Wiig was not as a big a role as we hoped, but it was still good. You can see the trailer here.

also, check out Landmark Cinemas.

I have also decided I want to try and stop at more Guy Fieri "diners, drive-ins, and dives" if possible on our trip. This website has a list, by state, of every place the tv show has covered. Although the forecast calls for some showers while we are there, and I cannot wait!

Extra 30.

I cannot believe it is already march! I have had a crazy few weeks, having flown back to Boston last weekend for my dad's birthday, and finally some down time in DC this weekend. While in Boston, I was able to do a fun girls night with Carling, who is moving to Nashville, TN this week. Very sad to think more friends will be all over the country, especially Carling. We have been together since preschool. I already need to start planning a quick getaway to Nashville (never been). We stayed in the Marriott in Copley for the night and went out with some of her college friends. Quite a night which may or may not have involved driving around Beantown in some guys Limo. That's a whole other story. All in all, it was a fun night and so glad I got to be there for her last weekend in Massachusetts. Downside to being home was that little bro was sick with a 104 temp all 4 days. Pretty sad considering it was his own school vacation. I was just hoping I wouldn't catch it the entire time.

This weekend was a pretty lazy one, the first I have had in awhile. Did laundry, ordered Chinese, tried to relax, watched copious amounts of TV. I don't have much food in the fridge, so was thinking of making a favorite: breakfast for dinner. How good do these look? If I try them, I will definitely post about the turnout. Speaking of the fact that I may want to cook such an ungodly unhealthy meal... I am thinking of trying a concept of running every morning. Now, I am not a morning person so this may be somewhat of a challenge. I want to try going to bed an extra 30 minutes early and waking up 30 minutes before the usual time, dragging myself out of bed, and tread milling in the fitness center for 30 minutes. It might be a good way to wake myself up and feel healthier. I have been struggling with stress from work and long hours, therefore my fitness level has not been the best. Being in shape is something I really care about and I am hoping this may be a good fresh start.

Also want to do some last minute fitness before heading on vacation to Los Angeles in 10 days!

Here are some phone pictures I took while walking Toby at home in Massachusetts:

3

Valentine's day was pretty low key, but I did get a nice surprise at work.

Eddie came to visit this weekend. I always look forward to his trips since they only happen once or twice a month. Also marks 3 years we have dated.. Kind of a long time I guess. ;) We spent Saturday in Georgetown by the river, got burgers, then cheesily saw The Vow (which I loved- as expected). I am looking forward to Presidents Day tomorrow as I've been really stressed at work. Also looking forward to going home next weekend for my dads birthday!

Trip to Philly

Went on first weekend trip of 2012, to visit Julie, Ellen, and Emily in Philly. Mara made a surprise day trip on Saturday from NYC (even missing out on NYFW) which was shocking but never the less so fun. We gave her a tour of Philly, love park, liberty bell, the market, south street, and Jim's cheesesteaks- all day Saturday. She had to go back that night but it was so good to have everyone together again. Sunday, Julie and I got brunch and made homemade white pizza. All around good weekend spent with friends :)

2011: a photo recap

One of my new years resolutions was to begin blogging again. Just so I can look back at little moments and remember. Thought I'd share snapshots of 2011. Pictures are out of order but consist of Gettysburg snapshots, myrtle beach senior week, traveling through NYC to DC to find apartments, moving to DC and DC summer, 9/11, first gburg alumni weekend, cape cod Thanksgiving and Christmas, 5k with dad, and photos from home.
