staycation

This past week, Eddie and I played the hosts to his family in Boston. It was great to see them and take them around our city (doing touristy things ourselves!) and we enjoyed setting off on a few day trips as well. Day 1, Saturday, was spent shopping and walking around Boston. We stopped at BU to show them the campus and grab some paraphenalia at the bookstore. Despite tired feet, we got a lot of shopping in...both on Newbury st and at Assembly Row.  On Sunday, we woke up early and headed to the antique market on the north shore, stopping on Plum Island and in Newburyport, MA. Although the greenheads were out in full force, it was a gorgeous Sunday.

On Monday, we took a day trip to Newport, RI for a walk on the cliff walk and along the mansions.

Newport remains one of my favorite places. We hadn't been in a while so I was especially excited to be back and to enjoy some Del's lemonade.

On Tuesday, we decided to do the touristy thing in Boston.. take a duck tour. I enjoyed it, though it was a bit expensive for what you get.

On Wednesday, our final day with his family, the girls headed to the beach while the boys golfed. To our surprise, it was also the international sand sculpting festival on Revere Beach... Pretty impressive.

We loved our brief staycation and for the remainder of the week decided to relax on the Cape.

4th of July

4th of July 2015 was spent on the Cape as we have in past years... parade in my home town and bonfire beach party with the family in the evening. I always cherish this tradition and look forward to this holiday every year.

New Orleans!

This past weekend we celebrated Britt's bachelorette in New Orleans. I've never been to Louisiana, so I was really excited for such a fun girls trip full of good food and celebrating the bride to be! We left early Saturday morning and stayed through Monday night. Although it rained on and off, we still had an amazing time and enjoyed the rooftop pool at the hotel. We started off Saturday night with a cooking class and dinner at Langlois, followed by a night out on Frenchman St. On Sunday we were up early and off to do a bike tour of downtown, including some good food stops and one of the best Bloody Mary's in NOs (semi-difficult to bike and drink a bloody at the same time). Sunday night we went to the infamous Bourbon St and spent most of the night at the Cats Meow (karaoke). Loved celebrating the bride to be and can't wait for the wedding this fall!
